"Let the record be made of the men and things of to-day, lest they pass out of memory to-morrow and are lost. Then perpetuate them not upon wood or stone that crumble to dust, but upon paper, chronicled in picture and in words that endure forever." --Kirkland

Minooka School District, Minooka; Minooka's first schoolhouse was built before 1871 on Mondamin Street. This building burned in the second great fire of 1887. The next school was built on the site of the current Junior High School. This was a two story, wooden building. It was replaced in 1925 by the present two story section of the Junior High. The "new" brick school served as both grade and high school until 1961 when the new grade school was built. The new high school was built in 1971.
