Located behind Mt Carmel Cemetery's north end
at the bottom of the hill along the fence.

This cemetery consists of the following stone.

Marshall, [William], [ca1854 - Oct 30, 1914] top of stone, plot,

Lea Sharp has identified the person buried in this grave as William Marshall, husband of Mary Moran (dau of James Moran, King of the Waupecan). They were married in Grundy County on July 29, 1877. It is possible that William Marshall was not Catholic, which could explain why he was not buried in Mt Carmel Cemetery.

Morris relatives of the William Marshall family of Blue Island were advised this morning of the sudden death of Mr. Marshall at that place that night. Details are lacking and further than knowing that he has been in poor health for several months and especially during the last two weeks, but little of the details of his last illness is to be learned of any of the Morris relatives.

William Marshall was a former Morris resident, having lived here from his birth 60 years ago until the time he married Mary, a daughter of James Moran, King of the Waupecan, until fourteen years ago when he moved to Blue Island to be near the five children, all of whom are married and still reside there.

While in Morris, he was engaged as a brick maker, and also as a worker in the tannery. Many of the older residents will remember him.

About four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Marshall broke up housekeeping that Mrs. Marshall might be near her aged father and to help the sister that has devoted her life attending to his wants. She never left the aged "king" and his daughter-housekeeper until two weeks ago when the ill health that has been gradually grasping Mr. Marshall took a more pronounced turn. Up until that time Mr. Marshall had made his home with one or the other of his daughters, Mrs. Charles Langraf, or Mrs. Herman Ludwig. Two of the three sons, Thomas, William Jr., and Harry, will come to Morris late this afternoon to make arrangements for the funeral at the Catholic church and burial in Mt. Carmel cemetery.

The body will be brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Duncan here at midnight to await the time of the funeral which has not been set yet.

On the 1910 Federal Census for Cook Co IL, Blue Island Ward 3, William, 53, & Mary, 54, are living with dau Anna M & her husband Herman Ludwig.

The IL Death Index lists Mary Marshall, age 82, died Oct 24, 1935 in Blue Island, IL.
